T-Shirt Embellishments

For those of you who don't know, I have a: "little sister" at the local elementary school, whom I absolutely adore. I like to think we're like Matlida and Miss Honey. I love to spoil her with gifts, and this week I decided to add a little something more to the Little-ist Pet Shop toy routine I usually go. The shirt I decorated for her is so simple to make, and it looks pretty cute.

First I cut ten tear drop shapes out of felt. I turned these teardrop shapes into "petals" for a flower. I planned on making two overlapping "five petal" flowers. I decided to go with the color purple because it's my little sister's favorite color.

Next, I stitched each petal onto a white t-shirt.

I sewed five petals onto the shirt to make a five petal flower. (Sorry it's so dark).

Next, I sewed five more petals on the top of the five petal flower so it would have ten petals.

After I had sewed two five petal flowers on top of one another, I added a button: which both covered my unsightly stitches and acted as the middle of the flower.

After the flower was attached, I puffy painted on a simple design. I picked the color black because it matched the button sewn on the flower.

As a final touch, I puffy painted a little note within the shirt for my little sister.

The shirt only cost me five dollars from Walmart, and I had the sewing supplies, felt, paint, and button already on hand! I guess it's not impossible to couture for five dollars! ;)
